History

Fisherman’s Ranch is a Gran Turismo original, revealed at Gamescom 2016 and shipped with GT Sport as Polyphony’s big American dirt course. The setting is fictional Arizona desert near the Mexican border, cactus included. At 6.9 km with 145 meters of elevation, it’s the longest dirt track in the series, with jumps, tight bends, and a second half where the walls close in. GT7 kept it. Players who learned throttle on tarmac hate the first hour. Players who stay with it like the rhythm. Half this league already knows every jump from farming credits here early in GT7.

Fun fact

Fisherman’s Ranch is the longest dirt track in Gran Turismo history at 6.9 kilometers.

The corners that matter

This is dirt; habits matter more than names. The first jump after the start is where the reverse-grid field launches each other. Land straight. The tight left-right after the first crest is a classic first-lap tangle; brake before the crest, not on it. Mid-lap there’s a long rutted sweeper where you pass on the inside if the car ahead slides wide. Late in the lap the walls close in; arrive with a damaged bumper and you leave with a DNF. Don’t fight over a corner that sits between two banks. Yield and pass on the next straight.

Main-event strategy

Fisherman’s Ranch hosts the Week 3 opener only. There is no Gr.3 race here. Save the fuel math for Red Bull Ring later that night; the Toyota 86 Gr.B on dirt tires is the whole show.

Garage notes

Stock plus dirt tires. If a setting is announced, it comes with a week’s notice.

Opener notes

The 86 Gr.B is light, nervous, and honest. On dirt you steer with the throttle: brake straight, turn, then feed the pedal until the rear steps out a little. Too much and you spin; too little and you understeer into a bank. Do the slowing before the jump, not after discovering a hairpin below it. Leave space at the first jump. If the car floats off a crest, wait to turn until it lands. Fifteen minutes is long enough to look like a hero and long enough to look like a lawn ornament.

“I would have nailed that apex if the car had been on the ground.”
